Nuapada: Even as villagers and forest officials are spending sleepless nights over deaths of sheep in Niali of Cuttack district, six goats were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Junali village in Nuapada district on Tuesday morning.
The goats belong to Haraprasad and Bharat Roul of the village. At least 10 more are reportedly missing.
Local forest officials, who rushed to the spot, looked equally confused over the incident. “The autopsy report would shed light on the exact reason behind the deaths. We will keep vigil in the area along with the villagers to trace the killer and ensure that such incidents do not recur,” a forest official informed.
In Niali block, the sheep killer on the prowl had killed two more sheep and injured two persons at Olasana village late on Sunday.
