Bhubaneswar: In an effort to recognise the steely resolve of women to march ahead in the manufacturing sector, Tata Steel recently announced the winners of its pioneering initiative ‘Women Of Mettle’ scholarship programme.
Swati Kumari from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela secured the second runner-up position in the third season of the programme, while Himani Patel from NIT Suratkal emerged the winner. Tanya Maurya from BIT Mesra was the First Runner-up.
The initiative was set up to identify, groom and encourage female engineering talent aimed at encouraging gender diversity and inclusion in India’s manufacturing sector. for India’s manufacturing sector.
More than 700 second-year female engineering students from over 50 premier engineering institutes across India, including the IITs, NITs participated in the programme.
The winners were announced at the Grand Finale held in Jamshedpur. Sanjiv Paul, vice president (Safety, Health & Sustainability), Tata Steel and Avneesh Gupta, vice president, Shared Services, Tata Steel were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
