Bhubaneswar: Sridhar Martha’s production house has announced a movie titled ‘Mayabini’ loosely based on the sensational honeytrap racket which has rocked Odisha and sextortion kingpin Archana Nag.
According to sources, the movie would also draw its storyline from several such reported incidents in the recent past. While the script is being readied by Litu Mohanty, the film will go to the floors in January next year, informed producer Sridhar Martha.
“I have always focussed on realistic cinema and this too is an effort in that direction,” he told the media, adding it would be a warning for society to stay on guard against such traps.
The story would revolve around a girl, who lands in Bhubaneswar in search of work but falls victim to a sextortion racket, and how she unleashes it on others and entraps people only to be arrested later, the sources added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Archana was arrested on October 6 for allegedly running a honeytrap racket in Odisha capital by luring politicians, bureaucrats, and other high-profile persons, and then blackmailing them. At least two ministers, including one from western Odisha, a senior BJP leader also from western Odisha, a former MLA, a veteran BJD leader, and some bureaucrats allegedly fell victim to the racket.

Archana is said to have amassed huge properties and led a flamboyant life since moving to the city from a humble set-up at Kesinga in the tribal-dominated Kalahandi district about four years ago and her journey itself is nothing short of a Bollywood criminal thriller steeped in mystery.

While BJP has demanded a CBI probe to unravel the alleged complicity of the ruling party leaders in the scandal, Congress has sought an STI probe to ensure it is done in a fair and impartial manner. Both opposition parties have also demanded for the names of those associated with the honeytrap case be made public.
