Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated two more plasma banks through video-conferencing. With this, the total number of plasma banks in the state has gone up to five.

The plasma banks were opened at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Burla.

Inaugurating the new health facilities, the chief minister said the plasma therapy would now be available for more serious COVID-19 patients in the state. The therapy has already been applied on several patients with successful and satisfying results.

Since the plasma therapy has proved to be a very effective procedure for treatment of COVID-19, the state government plans to extend its availability to more people, Naveen said. He also appealed to the people who have recovered from the disease to come forward and voluntarily donate the plasma so that other serious patients can get benefit out of it.

Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh was present at MKCG Medical and Health minister Naba Das at VIMSAR during the inauguration.

Earlier, the chief minister had inaugurated plasma banks at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and IGH in Rourkela.
