Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to launch door-to-door survey on COVID-19 from July 16.
Revealing this in his media briefing, government spokesperson on COVID-19 Suboroto Bagchi on Friday said the survey to be conducted by Asha workers will continue for 45 days. The Asha workers will visit each house in rural and urban areas to get the health details of the family members, particularly those having symptoms of COVID-19.
He appealed to the people not to hide their ailments to the surveyors during the visit and reveal their illness in details. Warning that intensity of COVID-19 has increased many folds, he said in some cases, asymptomatic people have succumbed to the disease in 24 hours.
Stating that since monsoon has arrived, people may suffer from fever, cold and water-born diseases which may aggravate the COVID-19 condition, Bagchi said those having these ailments should also reveal to the Asha workers.
If anybody would be found to have COVID-19 sysmptoms, he will be sent for test and if found positive, he will be kept in institutional quarantine.
Cautioning the people against crowding the shops hours before the beginning of night curfew at 9 pm, he said the government has relaxed the period by two hours for the convenience of the people. If the people flout the COVID-19 guidelines like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, the government will be forced to take tough actions against the violators, he added.
