Balangir: Police have arrested two persons for allegedly duping youths of over Rs 2 lakh on the plea of providing them jobs through Deputy Chief Minister KV Singhdeo in Odisha’s Balangir district.
Speaking to media persons on Tuesday evening, IIC of Patnagarh police station in the district said the two arrested youths are Buddhadeb Sahu of Bilaisathi and Sushil Rao of Salepali under their jurisdiction.
Several unemployed youths had complained to the police that the two persons had assured them of providing them jobs. Buddhadeb and Sushil claimed that they were close to Singhdeo and could give them employment through him.
The youths had believed the duo and given them around Rs 2.1 lakh some time back. As they did not get the j0bs nor the two persons returned the money, they filed the police complaint.
During investigation, the police came to know that Buddhadeb and Sushil had earlier duped several persons by claiming themselves to be close to other political leaders. This led the police to detain the two and questioned them. They admitted to have cheated the youths during questioning, the police said.
