Bhubaneswar: Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, hopes to achieve 99 per cent placement in 2022 and surpass last year’s record.
The VSSUT announced this at a press conference on Friday, in the build-up to the institution’s 13th convocation to be held virtually on January 31.
According to vice-chancellor Bansidhar Majhi, at least 71 per cent of BTech final year students (643 out of 900) of the current batch have already got job offers from various recruiters.
“We have been able to bring in more number of recruiters to the campus despite the obstacles posed by the pandemic. Our aim would be to better our placement record of last year (95 per cent),” Majhi was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express. He added that 768 out of 800 students got placements last year which was the highest since 2017.
Apart from visiting recruiters, the varsity is also contemplating engaging companies via online mode. While the average salary offered so far has been Rs 7 lakh per annum, the Bank of New York shortlisted one student at the highest package of Rs 17 lakh.
As many as 1,234 students including 872 from BTech, 24 BArch, 109 MTech, 26 MCA, 57 MSc, 26 Dual Degree and 36 Integrated MSc will be awarded degrees in the convocation.
