Sambalpur: In a step towards preventing ragging in the campus, the VSSUT has taken disciplinary action 6 senior students who were involved in harassing a junior student.
As per reports, the authorities of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla near Sambalpur city took the steps following the report, submitted by the disciplinary committee, into the allegation of the junior student.
The VSSUT has decided to deduct one grade point from first 2 subjects of the seventh semester of the senior students. Besides, each of them has been directed to pay fine of Rs 15000 which ill be deposited in Dean’s account.
All the senior students have been told to give a written undertaking stating that they would not be involved in any kind of ragging in the campus in future.
The junior student had complained to the institute authorities and filed a complaint at Burla police station alleging that six senior students had rebuked him in foul language and beaten him up near the VSSUT campus on December 17 last year.
