Cuttack: To keep crime at bay during Durga Puja festivities, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma directed the SPs of all districts to keep a strict vigil on anti-social elements and book hardcore criminals under National Security Act (NSA) or under the CrPC provision.
“Police will crack down on habitual offenders and persons with criminal record this Dussehra to ensure smooth conduct of all programmes and events during the festive season,” Sharma said.
A number of incidents of pre-poll violence, including bomb hurling and clashes, were reported from various college campuses across the state. “Keeping this in view, police personnel have been asked to identify the students involved in violent activities and initiate stern action against them,” he added.
