Puri: Panic gripped the Pilgrim Town of Puri after a portion of the boundary wall of Indradyumna Tank caved in while the road along it sank on Sunday night.
Notably, a portion of the boundary wall of the tank had collapsed due to heavy rain in the town about one-and-half-year ago. Later, the Works Department had reconstructed the boundary wall and put up sand bags to protect the road.
Talking to the media, a local said that the people staying in the periphery of the tank had approached the district administration after the boundary wall of the tank collapsed during cyclone Hudhud. “Instead of reconstructing the boundary wall, the administration had put up sand bags to protect the bridge along the boundary wall,” he added.
No official of the district administration was available for comment.
