Bhubaneswar: To check corruption in the state, the government is taking steps to put in place a preventive vigilance mechanism at the block and district levels with a key role of Odisha vigilance under the oversight of a high-powered committee headed by the chief secretary, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said on Friday.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebration of Odisha Vigilance here, the chief minister said, “The government is keen to leverage the use of information technology and social media in curbing corruption.”
Expressing his happiness over the State Vigilance extending its public interface and feedback system through toll free numbers, e-mail, website and social media platforms like Facebook and twitter so that people can easily lodge corruption related complaints and grievances, he hoped that the department will continue and intensify its public outreach programmes to enlist the cooperation of the people and support of the community in fighting corruption.
On the occasion, Naveen felicitated some former directors of vigilance.
