Bhubaneswar: An alert RPF constable saved a woman lecturer from certain death at Bhubaneswar railway station on Saturday evening.
RPF sources said Nibedita Sahoo, an IT lecturer at Ramadevi College here, was attempting to board the moving Puri-Sambalpur Express at platform number 1 when she got disbalanced and fell down in the gap between the platform and the train.
The RPF constable on duty, Subrat Kumar Maharana, rushed to the woman and pulled her out from the gap, thereby saving her from being crushed under the train.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the railway station.
Later, the woman wrote a letter to the RPF IIC in Bhubaneswar to thank Maharana for saving her life. “It is my pleasure to express my gratitude to your on duty staff Constable Subrat Kumar Maharana for saving my life from an incident of falling in between running train and platform,” she wrote.
