Rs 1 Lakh Fine For Violating COVID-19 Guidelines In Odisha!

Deogarh: Local tehsildar on Saturday imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a man for inviting guests beyond prescribed limit of COVID-19 guidelines to the marriage of his son.

violating Covid guidelines by organizing a marriage feast for over 800 people in Odisha’s Deogarh district today.

According to sources, Kulan Toppno of Kamala Bagicha village under Deogarh police station had arranged a community feast on the occasion of the marriage of his son Amit Toppno on the day. More than 800 guests reportedly attended the feast.

On being informed, Deogarh tehsildar Pallabi Nayak and local police raided the marriage venue. The Tehsildar imposed the fine of Rs 1 lakh on Kulan for violating the COVID-19 guidelines.

It may be noted that the government has imposed a ceiling of 100 persons to attend a marriage function as part of COVID-19 restrictions.
