No Let-Up In Heatwave In Odisha, 25 Places Record 40 Degree Celsius Or More

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed no let-up in heatwave condition on Saturday when 25 places registered temperature of 40 degree Celsius compared to 26 places on Friday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the maximum (day) temperature went up to 43 degree Celsius and beyond in as many as 6 places on the day.

Boudh was the hottest place in the state for second day with a temperature of 44 degree Celsius against 44.6 degree Celsius on Friday. Nuapada also registered same maximum temperature on the day.

The second highest temperature of 43.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Titlagarh which was followed by Balangir with 43.7 degree and Bhawanipatna and Nayagarh with 43 degree Celsius.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput where thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely in next 24 hours.

The Met office has also forecast light to moderate rain/thundershower at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput and Rayagada during the period.
