Puri: The detailed schedule of the rituals during Debasnana Purnima and Rath Yatra of sibling deities of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town has been finalised.
The details of the rituals and the timings of both festivals were decided at a meeting of the Niti Sub-Committee of the temple administration and Chhattisha Nijog, the apex body of the servitors, on Saturday.
As per the schedule decided at the meeting for Debasnana Purnima, Jalabije ritual will be performed between 9.30 am and 11.30 am on June 4. It would be followed by Chhera Panhara at 12.15 pm and Hati Besa of the deities between 12.30 and 2.30 pm.
Sahana Mela Darshan (public darshan of the deities) on the Snana Bedi (bathing altar) would be held from 6 pm to 9.30 pm. The deities would be taken to the Anasara Gruha (sick room) at 10 pm.
For the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra on June 20, it was decided that the Pahandi (grand procession) of the deities will begin at 9.30 am. After the deities are installed on the chariots, the devotees would start pulling the Raths at 4 pm.
During Bahuda Yatra (return Rath Yatra) on June 28, the Pahandi would begin at 12 noon and chariot pulling would start at 4 pm.
The three lords would appear in Suna Besha (gold avatar) on their respective chariots in front of the Lions’ Gate of the temple from 6 pm on June 29. Similarly, Adhara Pana ritual would be held on June 30 and Niladri Bije (return to own abode) of the deities on July 1.
