New Delhi: A Delhi Police team on Sunday collected electronic devices, including CCTV DVR (digital video recorder), in an attempt to get footage of the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar at the CM’s residence on May 13, even as AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj accused police of leaking information related to the case to BJP and the media.

Maliwal has alleged that CCTV footage of Kejriwal’s residence was being tampered with.

Kumar, arrested on Saturday, has been booked by Delhi Police for molestation and attempted culpable homicide following Maliwal’s complaint.

Addressing the press on Sunday after AAP workers couldn’t reach the BJP headquarters because of Section 144 at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Marg, Bharadwaj said Delhi Police informed the “interested party” as it fulfills their political interests.

“BJP’s Delhi police informed the media immediately after Swati Maliwal made the PCR call. Later when Maliwal went back without making a police complaint, BJP started having an ache in their stomach. I have never seen anyone taking a photo of DD entry of call made on 100,” alleged Bharadwaj.

He added that confidential material related to the case is being shared with the media and on social media. “The law of the country mandates that FIRs under Section 354 (Molestation) are kept confidential. But as soon as the FIR was registered, it was shared with all media via WhatsApp and posted on all X handles.”

He said news about CCTV footage and DVR (digital video recorder) related to the case being missing was false.

Significantly, while granting five-day police custody to Kumar in the assault case, a Delhi court had noted Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Atul Kumar Srivastav’s submission that video footage was not found in the pen drive provided by the JE to the IO during the investigation and the mobile phone was formatted by the accused.

Bharadwaj said there are no CCTV cameras installed in the Delhi CM’s residence and accused BJP and Delhi Police of planting wrong information to malign the party’s image.
