Taking Selfie Turns Fatal As Youth Drowns In Reservoir In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: A youth reportedly drowned while taking selfie with his friends on a country boat in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday.

According to sources, four youths of Angul district, all of them friends, had gone on a visit to Gurang reservoir in Jajpur. They took a country boat and went inside the reservoir.

After reaching deep water in the reservoir, one of them stood up in the boat and started taking selfie in his mobile phone. At this time, the boat capsized and all of them were thrown into the water.

Of the four friends, three managed to swim across the reservoir and reached its bank. But the fourth person went missing.

On being informed, Fire services personnel with the help of local people went to the reservoir and started a search operation. After searching the water for more than an hour, the Fire personnel found the missing youth in unconscious condition.

They brought to the bank of the reservoir. On checking him, they found the youth dead. He was identified as Partha Gocchayat of Hulurisingha in Angul, the sources said.
