Tata Motors has started taking bookings for the new BS6-compliant Harrier for a token amount of Rs 30,000.
The two major changes to the updated Harrier are power output and an automatic gearbox. The 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine now produces 170hp, up from 140hp. The SUV also gets an optional 6-speed torque converter auto gearbox which has been sourced from Hyundai.
The Harrier is now available in a new ‘Calypso Red’ paint shade.
Safety-wise, electronic stability program (ESP), which was earlier available only on the top-spec XZ, is now a standard offering across the range. The Harrier continues to have dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard. The higher trims, however, get 6 airbags, traction control, hill start and descent control.
There’s also a new panoramic sunroof, 6-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, auto-dimming interior rear view mirror, and diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels on the higher trims.
Apart from electric cars, Tata will unveil a slightly larger 7-seat iteration of the Harrier called Tata Gravitas at the Auto Expo.
