Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed at Baramunda playground in Bhubaneswar after a large number of people tried to forcefully enter the ground to witness Odisha Concours D’Elegance vintage car exhibition on Sunday.
According to sources, a large number of people thronged the ground to witness the exhibition. However, several of them alleged that the security personnel deployed at the gate did not allow them to enter.
They were told no one will be allowed to visit the exhibition without valid passes issued by the organisers of the event.
Angry over denial of entry, several visitors entered into a heated argument with the organisers and the police personnel deployed at the site as well. Some hoardings erected at the venue were also allegedly vandalised, while some people attempted to forcefully enter the venue.
It may be noted here that the exhibition, which was inaugurated on Saturday by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has become a crowd puller and a major attraction in the state capital.
On display at the exhibition is an impressive showcase of 52 vintage and classic cars hailing from seven states. The expo highlights a remarkable assortment of historic vehicles, featuring renowned brands such as Benz Motorwagen, Rolls-Royce, Ford, Jaguar, Bugatti, British Classics, and Mk V. The expo was held through a collaborative effort with Odisha Tourism.
Visitors can witness vehicles that span various decades, with notable examples dating back to 1886, 1929, 1932, and 1934. Sourced from cities like Kolkata, Delhi, and Chennai, the event promises to take enthusiasts on a nostalgic journey through the rich tapestry of automotive history.
