Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Public Health Officer Dr. Ashok Das has set a blazing precedent of selflessness amid coronavirus outbreak in Odisha by joining duty just hours after his mother’s demise.
Das, who has been assigned the task of Nodal Officer in the district on COVID-19, lost his mother, Padmini Das (80), on March 17 morning. Within hours, he was back spreading awareness about the disease by attending meetings with labourers and farmers on the preventive measures.
It was only in the evening that he returned home to perform the final rites of his deceased mother.
Keeping aside personal losses to attend to a greater problem plaguing the globe has earned his praises from all quarters.
