Berhampur: Golanthara police in Ganjam district arrested three persons on Monday for the alleged abduction and gang-rape of a minor girl at Dumudumi ODRP Colony here on December 15. The accused have been identified as Kanhu Patra, Sudarshan Nayak and Tophan Nayak. All of them belong to Dumudumi ODRP Colony.
According to sources, the 16-year-old victim belongs to the Dalit community. The incident took place when she was on her way to a grocery shop. The accused took her to a paddy field and raped her. Based on a complaint registered by victim’s family members on Saturday, the Golanthara police arrested the accused persons today.
The accused were sent to the court after medical examination. The police also sent the victim for medical examination, sources added. Further investigation into the matter is on.
