Bhubaneswar: Amid the prevailing heatwave conditions, thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of 10 districts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, till around 6 pm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Balasore, Bhadrak, Nayagarh and Kalahandi for next 3 hours.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places.
Earlier in the day, the weather agency had issued red warning of heatwave to severe heatwave condition for Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada, and Angul. Orange warning of heatwave has also been sounded for Sambalpur, Jajpur, Cuttack, Balasore, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nawarangpur and Deogarh. There is also a yellow warning of heatwave for Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput and Puri till 8.30 am on Saturday.
The state is likely to experience extreme heat till end of this month.
