Dhenkanal: In a rare incident of elephants killing a man in Mahabirod forests, Kamar Behera of Damolo was crushed to death by two tuskers in the wee hours of Tuesday. Kamar had gone to the hill stream to finish ablutions around 5 a.m. when two elephants trampled him to death before hurling his body away. On receipt of information, Behera’s relatives admitted him to Kamakhyanagar hospital in a critical condition. On the advice of doctors, he was being shifted to Dhenkanal District Hospital, when he died on the way. Mahabirod forest ranger Satya Narayan Sahu reached the hospital and promised to provide compensation to the bereaved family.
