Bhubaneswar: Former first-class cricketer V Venkatram has been appointed Technical Director (TD) of Odisha Cricket Academy.
The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) zeroed in on the 66-year-old Venkatram, Odisha Cricket Association announced on Tuesday.
Venkatram, who was an off-spinner and a useful lower-order batter, played 71 first-class matches and bagged 222 wickets including 13 five-wicket innings hauls and one 10-wicket match return.
He captained the Bihar Ranji Trophy team for 6 years.
After retirement, Venkatram took up coaching. A BCCI Level 3 coach, worked as head coach Jharkhand, Tripura and Assam senior men’s teams as well as Uttarakhand U-23 boys.
Venkatram also served coach and educator at the National Cricket Academy for 5 years, and as Director of Assam Cricket Academy.
OCA has placed trust on the experienced Venkatram to further develop its ambitious programme Vision@2024 in various district cricket academies and nurture talents throughout Odisha.
