Nabarangpur: Maoist posters against two proposed irrigation projects in Odisha’s Nabarangpur were found on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Maoist posters were found near Central Nursery and on Jharigaon-Chandahandi road in Jharigaon bock of the district. The banned outfit has threatened the district administration to refrain from the projects at Telnadi and Satighat.
As panic spread in the area after the posters were found, a team from Jharigaon police station went to the two places and seized the posters.
It may be noted that the people of Umerkote and Raighar blocks have been opposing the poroject at Telnadi on the ground that it would bring down the water level of the river downstream which would create water scarcity in their areas.
Similarly, the Satighat project at Gabaguda village under Chacha panchayat in the block have been opposed by the local people.
