Dhenkanal: The Forest Department officials recently rescued an elephant calf in Odisha’s Dhenkanal, bringing cheers to the locals.
Separated from the mother elephant, the calf had fallen into the trench and was unable to find its way out. The forest officials planned a rescue operation wherein ramps were made at two-three places to help the baby elephant get out of the trench. The calf climbed up using a ramp and reunited with the mother anxiously waiting for it nearby.
Sharing two heartwarming videos of the rescue operations on X, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda thanked the department staff in Dhenkanal for rescuing the elephant calf and reuniting it with its mother. The distressed baby elephant can seen attempting to escape in one of the video with the other showing its escape with the forest officials’ assistance.
