Bhadrak: A young inmate of a de-addiction centre in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has reportedly died under mysterious conditions. The deceased man’s family has filed a police complaint against the de-addiction centre alleging that the inmate was beaten to death at the centre on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Kedarnath Parida of Haripur village in Jajpur district, was admitted to the Bastab Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centre in Chingidipur under Dhamnagar police limits in Bhadrak district on January 4.
According to the family members of the deceased, the rehab centre on Tuesday informed them that Kedarnath was unwell and was suffering from pneumonia and they were taking him to the hospital. Later, they were called again to tell that Kedarnath was no more. The family members rushed to the Bhadrak Government Hospital where they were informed he was admitted where they found bruises all over his body.
The Dhamnagar police on being informed reached the hospital and initiated a probe. The postmortem report is awaited.
