Malkangiri: Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Wednesday said the death of three Maoist cadres in the encounter in Tulasi Forest Range in Malkangiri district is a big success for Odisha Police.

The DGP, who arrived in the district today, told media persons that the three Maoist cadres were carrying a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on their head.

Clarifying that incorrect information had been shared soon after the encounter yesterday as there was a lack of clarity in identification of the deceased Maoists, the DGP said there were two men among the deceased Maoists and not one.

“Of the three dead Maoists of Darbha Divisional Committee, Area Committee Secretary (ACS) Muka Sodi alias Anil alias Kishore and Chinna Rao had a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh on their head respectively while the woman cadre Soni, the Area Committee Member (ACM) was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on her head,” the DGP said.

The DGP was accompanied by DIG, South-Western Range Rajesh Pandit; Director, Intelligence, Anirudh Singh and IG, Operation Amitabh Thakur.

Claiming that a host of welfare projects are being implemented in Malkangiri district and its cut-off areas under the vigilance of the Central Forces, the DGP called on the Maoists to abjure violence and join the mainstream for inclusive development of the district.
