Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a man raped and impregnated his mentally retarded daughter in the district. He was arrested on the complaint of the girl’s mother.
According to sources, the girl’s family belonging to a village under Malkangiri Sadar police limits used to keep her inside the house considering her unstable mental condition.
On the days when other family members were staying away from the house, her father sexually exploited her. The man’s wife and other family members were unaware of it until the girl fell ill. Her mother took her to the local hospital where the doctors confirmed that the girl was six-month pregnant.
When the man’s wife confronted him on the issue, he threatened to kill her. Then she took up the matter with other family members and on their advice, she filed a complaint with police.
Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and arrested the man on Wednesday. The victim girl has been sent to the hospital for medical examination and the report is awaited, said Malkangiri police station IIC Ram Prasad Nag.
