Yearender 2022: India Mourned The Death Of These Celebrities

From musical legends to popular actors, India lost many celebrities in 2022. They entertained and regaled us for many years and have left a void that cannot be filled.

Here are some of them:

Lata Mangeshkar

India lost its nightingale. She had been on regular therapy for pneumonia and COVID-19 for 28 days before leaving the world. Millions of fans and celebrities attended her cremation. The Prime Minister also paid his last respects to the veteran singer. Her voice still resonates on every music channel, the radio and TV.

 

Bappi Lahiri

Bappi Da had big box office hits not just in Bollywood but also in Bengali, Telugu, and Kannada movies. His songs remained popular well into the twenty-first century. He passed away on February 15, 2022, in Mumbai, of obstructive sleep apnea. He will always be remembered for Koi Yahan Nache Nache and other such hits.

 

Pandit Birju Maharaj

The world-famous Kathak exponent, composer, and singer was a member of the Lucknow ‘Kalka-Bindadin’ Gharana. He died on  January 16, 2022, just a month before his 85th birthday due to a heart attack.

Famous playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath died a tragic death while performing at a live music event at Nazrul Mancha auditorium in South Kolkata on May 31, 2022.

Sidhu Moose Qala

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu was a popular musician, rapper, songwriter, and actor best known for his work in Punjabi music and cinema. On May 29, 2022, unidentified assailants shot and killed Moose Wala in his automobile in Jawaharke village, Mansa district.

Raju Srivastav

The man who made us laugh for so many years, died on September 21, 2022. He was working out at a Delhi gym when he had a heart attack on August 10. The veteran comedian was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) but lost his battle with life.

Tabassum

Host of Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan for many years, who started her career as child actor Baby Tabassum in 1947, she breathed her last in November this year.
