Boudh: A young girl student from Odisha’s Boudh district was allegedly sexually exploited for three months after being sold for Rs 3 lakh in Madhya Pradesh.
As per reports, the girl belonging to a village under Manamunda police limits of the district had passed out from a polytechnic in Sonepur and come to Jharsuguda in search of job in May. During her stay in Jharsuguda, she came in contact with Ganesh Kumbhar of Khaliapali village under the same police station. She had known Ganesh earlier as her village is close to Khaliapali.
After gaining the confidence of the girl, Ganesh told her to go to one of his relatives’ house and took her to Guna town in Madhya Pradesh. He sold the girl to one Jaswant Singh there without the knowledge of the girl and came away.
Jaswant kept the girl in a closed room and told her to marry his brother Akash Singh. When she did not agree to it, Jaswant threatened her of taking her life with a gun. While the girl was not allowed to go out of the house, Akash continued to rape her at gun-point for three months.
However, the girl managed to escape from captivity taking advantage of the absence of the two brothers and reached her home a few days back. She has filed a complaint in this regard at Manamunda police station. Stating that her certificates, ATM card and other document were in Jaswant’s house, she has requested the police to recover those.
Acting on the complaint, the police have arrested Ganesh and would forward him to court on Wednesday.
