Bhubaneswar: The family of deceased Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in schoolteacher Mamita Meher murder case, refused to accept his body after the postmortem procedure was completed on Wednesday.
The postmortem process of Sahu was conducted by two experts from the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology (FMT) department of VIMSAR, Burla, at Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir.
According to sources, Sahu’s family has demanded that his body be sent to Mahaling in Kalahandi. “If we do not have the right to see the suicide note recovered from his pocket, why should we accept his body,” Sahu’s relative told the media.
Sahu’s wife Susama Sahu had alleged that her husband’s death was a planned murder and said Gobinda was mentally strong and would not end his life. She also lodged a complaint in this regard with Kegaon police station.
Susama said that her husband had called her from the prison on Monday night. “He asked me to take my medicines regularly and ensure our son remains sincere towards studies,” she said. She also claimed that her husband was falsely implicated in the Mamita Meher murder case.
It is pertinent to mention here that a brown envelope was recovered from Sahu’s pocket shortly before he was taken for post-mortem. Police are yet to reveal the contents of the brown envelope.
Sahu was found hanging under mysterious circumstances at Kantabanji sub-jail on Tuesday.
