Bhopal: At least 20 persons were killed after a mini truck carrying members of a wedding party fell off a bridge over Sone river in Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday night. As per information, 15 persons died on spot under the impact of the accident.
The injured have been admitted to the district hospital. The incident happened at Jogdaha bridge near Amelia under Bahri police limits of the districts. The mini truck turned turtle and fell about 70 feet onto the dry river bed.
While the locals rushed to the spot to help in rescue operations, the district collector and district police chief also reached the spot, which is around 42 kms from the Sidhi district headquarters.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
