Puri: One person was killed while two others sustained critically injuries following an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit at Kamasasan village in Puri on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rajas Parida. A native of Kamasasan village, he died on the spot.
According to sources, the accident took place when a cracker exploded in the unit while some people were working at Rajas’ house. The fire engulfed five other nearby houses.
On being informed, Sadar Police reached the spot and seized the body for postmortem. The injured persons were rushed to the Puri district headquarters hospital.
Investigation into the matter is on.
