Bhubaneswar: One person died and two others turned critical after they entered a well to rescue a cat near Patia railway station in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
According to sources, three persons had entered the open well near the Patia railway station in order to rescue the cat that had fallen inside.
However, the three were unable to come out of the well while trying to rescue the cat, a fire services official said.
On being informed, a team of fire services personnel rushed to the site with equipment to carry out a rescue operation. The rescue team pulled out the trapped persons and rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
However, one of the three, aged around 50 years, died apparently due to asphyxiation, sources said. The other two are stated to be safe.
