Rayagada: In a tragic incident, a person was killed and another sustained critical burn injuries in a fire mishap at a poultry farm at Chandrapur village in Rayagada on Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as Gokul Chandra Dara and the injured person as Bhagirathi Parichha. Paricha has been admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
According to sources, fire broke out at around 1.30 am on Sunday, when Dara and Paricha were sleeping at the poultry farm.
Locals spotted the fire and informed the fire service personnel.
On being informed, the fire department officials rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
Dara died on the spot while Paricha was rushed to Rayagada district headquarters hospital. Later, he was shifted to MKCG as his condition deteriorated.
The reason behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained.
