1 Killed, 14 Injured In Separate Mishaps In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: One person was killed and at least 14 others sustained injuries in two separate mishaps in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.

Sources said a labourer died while three others were trapped at a stone quarry at Dankari under the jurisdiction of Dharmashala police station in the district.

The workers were engaged in digging the quarry when the mishap took place.

The district administration has launched an operation to rescue the three trapped labourers.

Following the mishap, BJP MLA candidate Smrutirekha Pahi rushed to the site and demanded stringent action against the quarry owner and compensation to the victims.

In another mishap, at least 14 people were injured near Maheshwarpur petrol pump under Jajpur Sadar police station limits following a collision between a bus and a truck.

The bus was on its way from Bari to Cuttack when the mishap took place.

All the injured have been rescued and sent to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) for treatment.
