Cuttack: One person was killed and several others were injured as a private bus overturned in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday evening.
As per reports, the bus carrying around 40 passengers was going from Bhubaneswar to Balasore. After crossing the overbridge at Gopalpur near Cuttack on National Highway 16, the driver lost control over the steering and overturned on the busy road.
The local people immediately rushed to rescue the passengers from inside the bus and informed the police. The police and Fire personnel with the help of the locals admitted the injured persons in SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city. Unfortunately, one passenger died in the accident.
According to the locals, the mishap occurred while the bus driver was trying to save a cyclist who had suddenly come before the vehicle. Though the cyclist was saved, the driver could not control the bus and hit a roadside electricity pole. As a result, the bus lost balance and fell on its side.
