Dhenkanal/Sundargarh: One person was killed and 18 injured in two separate road accidents at Dhenkanal and Sundargarh districts on Saturday.
A biker was killed after being hit by a speeding truck near Nuaalutuma at Kamakshyanagar in Dhenkanal district. Police identified the youth as Puspakant Sahu.
Following the mishap, locals blocked the road near Nuaalutuma Chhak demanding compensation to the family of the deceased. Owing to the blockade, vehicular movement on Talcher-Kamakshyanagar-Jajpur road was affected.
In Sundargarh, 18 persons were injured, 12 of them seriously, when the passenger bus in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Biritala Bazaar under Chandapose police limits. The ill-fated vehicle was on its way to Rourkela from Bonai.
