Bhubaneswar: A speeding SUV rammed into a motorcycle near Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, killing one person and leaving two others critically injured.
The collision occurred around late Tuesday night on the AG Square–Airport Road in the city. The deceased youth has been identified as Raja belonging to Old Town area of Bhubaneswar. The two injured are receiving treatment and remain under critical care at Capital Hospital. The driver who caused the accident fled the s
pot and Police are yet to nab him.
According to eyewitnesses, the SUV was moving at high speed before it rammed into a motorcycle with severe impact. The force of the collision was so intense that one of the riders reportedly died on the spot, while 2 others sustained critical injuries. The motorcycle got dragged up tol 100 metres due to the impact of the crash. Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately alerted the authorities. Police and emergency services arrived promptly, and the victims were taken to Capital Hospital where doctors declared 1 youth dead upon arrival.
Officials of Capital police station have launched an investigation into the incident. The SUV has been seized, and officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to reconstruct the sequence of events. Sources say the driver of the SUV is a builder residing in Sundarpada area of the city.
