Angul: One person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries in a violent clash between members of two families over issues relating to land dispute at a village in Odisha’s Angul district on Thursday.
The incident reportedly took place at Badahinsar village under the jurisdiction of Jarpada police station in the district.
According to sources, the family members of Nabina Sahu and Raghunath Sahu have been fighting over a small piece of land measuring only one foot for a very long time.
A fresh argument erupted over the issue this morning and members of both the families entered into a clash and fought a pitched battle using sticks and axe.
While Nabina Sahu died at the spot after being attacked with axe, his wife Ashanti was critically injured. Similarly, Raghunath Sahu’s son Babi sustained grievous injuries in the violence.
Both the injured persons were rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment and their condition was stated to be critical.
On being informed, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
