Nayagarh: A man was killed and three others sustained critical injuries when a car in which they were travelling caught fire after ramming into a roadside tree near Jamusahi area of Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
As per preliminary reports, four persons from Chhattisgarh were proceeding to Puri town to have darshan and offer prayers at Jagannath temple when the mishap took place.
Soon after the mishap, locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the victims. They also immediately informed the police and fire services for necessary steps.
On being informed, a team of police personnel reached the spot and with the help of locals rescued the four persons.
The injured were rushed to the community health centre (CHC) in Dasapalla for treatment in critical condition. However, doctors declared one of them dead. Three others are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is stated to be critical.
The road mishap was suspected to have occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, locals said
A team of local fire services personnel doused the flames after striving for half an hour.
