Bhubaneswar: One person was reportedly killed and 5 persons were seriously injured as a car crashed into a stationary truck in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Friday.
As per reports, the car carrying 7 persons was going towards Dhamnagar in the district on National Highway 16 in the wee hours of Friday. When the vehicle reached Gelpur square under Bhadrak Rural police station, its driver could not see the truck parked on roadside due to heavy fog and rammed into it.
On the impact of the accident, six passengers in the car were seriously injured. The local people rushed to the spot and rescued them from the vehicle.
On being informed, a police team went to the spot and sent the injured persons to the local hospital. Later, they were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. One of the injured persons died on the way to the hospital, the sources said.
The police have registered a case and seized the car. Further investigation is on.
