Dhenkanal: One person was killed and six were injured in two road accidents in Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
In the first incident, a man was killed on the spot and another sustained severe injuries after their car hit an electricity pole near Hindol.
Police sources said the car was travelling from Nayagarh to Angul when the driver lost control and slammed into the pole.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
In the other mishap, five passengers were injured when their bus overturned near Ramial bridge under Kamakhyanagar police limits around 3 am.
According to sources, the bus with over 50 passengers on board was travelling from Rourkela to Balasore. The bus driver lost control while trying to avoid a collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued the passengers.
The injured were taken to a hospital in Kamakhyanagar.
