1 killed, two injured as bike hits roadside tree in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: One person was killed while two others suffered critical injuries after the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a roadside tree at Pitiri Square under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Jambeswar Nayak, a resident of Kurundi in Angul district.

The accident took place when Jambeswar, who was on his way to Talcher along with two of his aunts on a bike, lost control over the vehicle while giving passage to a coal-laden truck coming from opposite direction.

Those injured were admitted to Talcher Sub-divisional Hospital in a critical condition.

Peeved over the incident, an irate mob staged a blockade on national Highway 149 near the accident spot demanding compensation to the family members of the deceased.

The truck driver fled the spot with his vehicle soon after the mishap.
