Mayurbhanj: A one-month-old baby boy, allegedly sold off for Rs 2,000 by his poverty-stricken parents, was rescued by Jharpokharia police in Odisha’s Mayrbhanj district on Monday.
The police have arrested three persons, including his parents – Prahlad and Liza Pratihari – and the agent – Tapan Dandapat, in this connection.
According to sources, the parents of the rescued baby belong to Saraskana village under Jharpokharia police limits in Mayurbhanj district. They were nabbed from Rairangpur while the agent was arrested from Saraskana.
Further investigation into the matter is on.
