Jeypore: In a major haul, police seized over a quintal of ganja and arrested seven persons carrying the narcotics late on Saturday.
A night police patrolling team intercepted two cars near Padua and seized the banned substance after searching both the vehicles.
The ganja was reportedly being transported from Padua to Angul district.
In a similar seizure, on June 23, police arrested a person identified as Kartik Bagh on charges of smuggling over 121 kg of ganja near Jeypore in the district.
Acting on a piece of information received from a reliable source that the banned substance was being transported to Jeypore town in an unregistered car; a police team had intercepted the vehicle and seized the ganja stuffed in a number of packets.
