Bhubaneswar: Wednesday saw Odisha capital reporting 341 new COVID cases and 10 areas being declared as containment zones.
To check the spread of the infection, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) put five areas under containment in the evening. They are QR-3R4, Sainik School under ward no-12; A-304, third floor, Indian Oil Housing Society under ward no-4; Plot no-4044/4, Pandara under ward no-18; Block-II, Qtr No-12, XIMB under ward no-16 and HIG-56, Lane-6, Sailashree Vihar under ward no-7.
Earlier in the day, Plot No. 1499/A near Sai Temple, Acharya Vihar; Plot No. 120-B, Satyanagar; Plot No. 60, Bapuji Nagar; Plot No. 1147, Bishnu Nagar, Tankapani Road and Plot No. L3/65 near water tank, Acharya Vihar were declared as containment zones.
The civic body had banned the entry of the public into the containment zones. The inhabitants of the containment zones have been advised to stay indoors. Shopping establishments, government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone will also be closed immediately.
The corporation would supply essentials and medicines in the containment zones, it added.
