Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch on Sunday arrested 10 Bangladeshi nationals at Bhubaneswar railway station here for illegal entry.
According to sources, six men, three women and a 13-year-old boy from the neighbouring country were apprehended from Dibrugarh-Chennai Express, while travelling to Bengaluru without valid passport or visa. They had illegally crossed the Indo-Bangla border near Dhubri area in Assam.
“We had a tip off about these people travelling from Assam without passport or visa. Accordingly, a team conducted a raid at the railway station and nabbed them. They revealed that they were Bangladeshi and had entered Odisha from Assam,” STF SP Rabi Narayan Satpathy told the media.
Since they neither had passport nor visa, a case has been registered against them under Section 14 of Foreigners Act, he added.
Seven mobile phones, Bangladeshi currencies and other items were also seized from the intruders.
