Jajpur: At least ten children fell seriously ill after they allegedly consumed poisonous fruits at a village in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
As per preliminary information, the incident took place at Munda Sahi of Aruha village in the district on Sunday. They have been admitted to hospital for treatment.
Sources said the children were playing together in the village when they came across the fruits on a tree. After consuming the fruit, they started vomiting and complained of severe stomach pain and nausea.
They were immediately taken to the Dharmasala Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. Some of them were later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment as their condition deteriorated.
While the children are recovering slowly, they are unable to identify the fruit they had consumed. On being informed, police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
